In 1943 I was at home in Moira when the sirens wents. They had gone before without any planes appearing so we were not unduly concerned. Then we heard a sound which wasn't the sound of an Allied plane. Rushing out to look I saw a German plane flying low over my house. Fortunately it was heading for the nearby pit and not us.
