We moved from Mandalay upto Taunge on jungle training and then onto the Salveen river where we had to hold the position against the japanese. We had to withdraw from this position to Thaton because the japanese had come down through the Gulf of Martaban at a place called Bilin. A company was completly wiped out all 100 men.
The retrear continued making it the longest retreat the British Army ever made. Out of 550 men that went into action 79 remained.
