I was in the Royal Airforce a Chief Tech. I was 20 years old when I joined, we were up at the top of Scotland, a place called Ulskar. I served in Germany. I worked in Radar, training people how to use it.
I was born in Wombwell, Dad worked in the pit and mum looked after the family. There were 7 children but the second one died and I was number 5. Life was normal for us in the war, we did not know any difference. I played trumpet in the army band.
