When we lived in Barford Street, near the Bull Ring in Birmingham, the bombs fell and blasted the row of houses across from Mum and Dad's ... The kids next door from us ran out of their house in just their underwear - as there was no time to put on their clothes.
Everyone ran to the two houses that were still standing. The fire men came after a while and put out the fires. The ambulance men had taken the wounded and the dead away.
The next day, everyone else went back to their houese. The middle wall had collapsed in our house, so Dad put chicken wire up instead., and put wall-paper on it, sticking it with flour and water, as there was no paste.
