this story was submitted to the Peoples War site by a volunteer from CSV on behalf of Mr M Evans and has been added to the site with his permission Mr M Evans fully understands the site's terms and conditions.

I was in 3rd Independnet Bridging Troup attached to the Indian Army. On VE day was based in Poonah India.
I was born in Berlin but is a Hungarian national.
i was the only 'enemy alien' in Royal Ammoured Corps in war.
When daughter wanted to join Ministry of Defence she was vetted and it was discoovered than I was the first man in the country to be natrualised.
I was sent to India because I wanted to help somehow, so I volunteered by writing to the Secretary of State. My parents were still in Germany so i wasn't automatically callled up because of my nationality but was accepted after volunteering.
