Whilst in the shelters the Salvation Army used to come round with hot drinks. On a Sunday they used to hold a service in the shelter if there was an air-raid going on. Lady ARP Wardens used to come round the shelters and if anyone was snoring they used to hold the snorer鈥檚 nose until they stopped. One man had a hammock which he put up between two girders and when he slept he snored, along came the warden and pinched his nose and he fell out of the hammock.
