In 1942, I was a 10 year old and had just gone to bed, when a ruckus started outside. I looked through the window and saw half a dozen of the local lads, who鈥檇 come home on leave, trying to push this little guy into the back of a taxi.
They were all a bit worse for wear, having celebrated heavily. The more they pushed him in one side, the more he shot out the other door.
They were so drunk that it took them nearly half an hour to realise that he was escaping out the other side! Everyone thought it was hilarious!
