We were very lucky, we always had plenty of eggs. I always remember that whenever anybody came to visit at the house they wre given a box of eggs when they left as a present.

I don鈥檛 think we realised how bad it was, how frightened we should be. Everybody had to have their gasmask! If you forgot it, you would get a row from the teacher.
