my father now decesed went to france with the 2nd battalion of the durham light infantry british expeditionery force in september 1939 he did his bit returned on leave then returned early 1940 unfortunatly he never returned untill may 1945 he was a bren gun carrier driver the crew were haveing a nap after a grueling day only to be woken up and surounded by the germans they were lined up againsed the carrier and were going to be shot only for a senior officer to stop them and were taken prisoner he was then taken to lamsdorf in poland camp 8b south east breslav silesia stalag v111b-344b this was a very hard time for my father and his frends this why i beleve my father never talked about the war
