I remember during WW2, when I was a young boy, the local policemen on his bike would call on my father from time to time, to walk down the back garden path to his shed and count all the pigeons that my father kept. I have often wondered why this periodically took place, and whether it was to do with the war effort. My father was in the first world war (Black Watch) but not in WW2
