We had two evacuees from Finsbury Park in London. Eventually mother and younger son came down to stay.
My mother said you don't have a London accent and she said 'no I'm a German' she'd married young before the war. My mother kept it quiet, but word got out and people didn't like us keeping a German under our roof. She was a lovely woman. We've kept in touch ever since.
They were Marie, John and David Sharp.
I still meet John although the others have since died.
