Story taken by Charles Dinsdale at the ´óÏó´«Ã½ Open Centre 10/6/2005

We set off from home about 6 pm. my Mum and two sisters June and Jenny, and arrived at Queens’ Gardens soon after. The place was packed with all the forces and civilians and lots of children they were packed in like sardines. Everybody was kissing each other. There was music from loud speakers. The fountain was lovely, it used to go high and low and was all the colours of the rainbow. It was the first time I had seen it because it was not on during the war. Everybody was really nice to each other.
