I was coming home from School in 1939, and then my mother told me the bad news. We were at War. I was really scared because we were one of the major cities that we are bombed. My mum told me that we are going to be Evacuated to a countryside in Suffolk. When I got on the train, I was so sad to leave my mum behind. I was evacuated with a person called Mrs Price. I lived at the same house as my friends which was really good because we can share our reactions. Its personal; being 10 years old in the London area in 1939. However in 1944 we returned to the London area to live
with yet more relatives; so my early memories are of a lot of family
evacuation dislocation owing to the war.
