This story was submitted to the People鈥檚 War site by Anastasia Travers from WM CSV Action Desk on behalf of Freda Worton and has been added to the site with his permission. Freda Worton fully understands the sites terms and conditions.

There were five children in my family (all girls). My twin sister went into the WAFS. I stayed to help with my family. I worked at Bywaters, Kings Heath. I had to clean the shop as well as serve customers. If food was 鈥渄istressed鈥 (going off) staff could purchase cheaply, without rationing books.
