This story was submitted to the Peoples War site by a pupil at Esher High School on behalf of Mrs Gladis Williams and has been added to the site with her permission. Mrs Williams fully understands the sites terms and conditions. Mrs Williams joined the air force in 1940 and trained to be a flight machanic at Henersford in Staffordshire. On the course she worked with several air craft. Having passed the trade test she worked mainly on Avro Anson, which were used for there stabilities for air ambulance. 15 pafu also trained pilots from Poland, free France, Austrailior, Canada, and New Zealand to RAF standard.At a later date she worked on stronburg Carburetter flow testing.We connected the carburetter (similar to an aero engine) to a vast machine were to get the correct air pressure to petrol.
