My memories of V.E.Day are of lots of small parties. We lived in Railway Street, by the Central Station. My husband worked on the railway. I can remember we had a party in the street,but it wasn't a great big affair,(but it wasn't a big street either) We had tables with sandwiches and cakes and biscuits. Mrs Henderson who lived nearby brought out her piano and played all the popular tunes. We all sang and danced. It was a good time for us all on that day.
