Two sisters were evacuated in 1939 to Southport from Bootle Liverpool lived with a family of four quite affluent and treated very well. Family wanted to adopt them. Father worried about this and brought them home after six months.
Family was completely destroyed during May Blitz. Fortunately family were in cellar. Sisters remember getting rescued and seeing just people鈥檚 feet (bodies obviously killed).
Mother then tried to find accommodation, night time taken to Wigan on a bus as the bombers were every night for a week after the Docks. Eventually one of the Aunts took them in.
