Our wedding day
I met my wife in Wolverhampton — she used to work in the canteen — it’s a big shop now in the square in the city centre.
I walked home with her one day, but the next week I was posted abroad - by that I mean I went up to Blackpool and then down south, then to Harwich, and got the boats from there and traversed all the way around so as to miss all the mines, and eventually to Calais.
The next time I heard from her was when I received a letter which my Mother had sent to me from her. Of course that was the start of it.
We got married in Margate, at the congregational church on the 21st February.
