Oh, we have fought in deserts
And we have fought in mud
Wherever we have fallen
We enriched them with our blood.
And we have fought on oceans
And battled in the sky
But neither made a resting place
When it was time to die.
Oh, we went out to battle
And left behind our peace
We armed us for destruction
That others might have peace.
But the places where we'd fallen
In making right from wrong
So soon have we seen the weak ones
Enslaved to the strong.
Oh Lord, how does it happen
When all for peace do yearn
They do what leads to conflict?
Oh, when will mankind learn!
All you greedy war lords,
Must we rise from the grave
And fight yet other battles to
Restore the peace we gave?
And all you here attending
Let your disputing cease,
Why dont you stop offending
And let us rest in peace?
Oh, make an end to warfare
That all may rest ...in peace.
