I think it was the 25th April 1942 and I remember my sister鈥檚 boyfriend coming back to our house. The police sent him back to us because there was a red alert. All the bombing was talking place. The all clear went. Me and mum went outside. It was smoky and you couldn鈥檛 see. We saw a plane firing its guns that looked like sparks in the sky. Mum pushed me on the floor and she went down at the same time and the heel of her shoe went in my mouth and I bit it. She had my teeth marks in the heel of her shoe. I can assure you I bit it hard.
