As a small boy I lived in London during the Blitz. My Father was in the R.A.F. and came home on a week-end pass and brought with him a Scottish wire haired terrier called Sandy. The dog was the mascot of the crew of a Liberator Bomber which failed to return to base after a mission. The dog actually had the names of the whole crew but we just called him Sandy. The dog was very wild and a bit of a handfull and my Mother said she could not look after him so my Father found another Family living close by who took him into their House, That night a German bomb scored a direct hit on their house killing all of them including Sandy. A bit spooky we thought.
