I was 8 years old when war broke out. My father was called up straight way as he was in the terrestrial army. As far as I know he was sent to France with the B.A.F. He would never tell us about what went on.
My worst memories about the war was the the Sunday night blitz, when my school was bombed, and my mother was at my aunt's, where the bombing was worse, ie. Castle St and Old Market. Luckily she came home alright.
I was evacuated to North Moulton in Devon, but I was not vey happy being away from my mother and sister, so I asked to be sent home. Altogether I was there about 3 months when my mother came to fetch me.
