Job? - At school
Parents job? - My father was a decorator and an air raid warden
Most memorable event during the war? - The raids (doodle bugs & V2) we spent most of our lives in the air raid shelter. VE day was the best day as we had street parties to celebrate the end. We also went up to Whitehall to see the Prime Minister give his speech
What was life like during this time? - I lost a lot of schooling due to my school being closed. It was closed to give shelter to those families whose houses had been destroyed and therefore found themselves homeless.
Did any of your family fight in the war? - Yes lots of my male cousins
Did you lose any relatives? - Yes my cousin George who was 21
Where any foods particularly difficult to get? - I never had a banana or much fruit at this time. 4 ounces of cheese, meat and margerine
