Before I went into the Army there was a 13 1/2 hour raid in Birmingham. I was working at the Goodman Factory on the corner of Milk Street and Deric End. On the Tuesday a bomb dropped on the factory, the foreman tried to douse the bomb and it exploded in his face. The next morning on Wednesday he was back in work after being up all night, wearing a surgical mask . I'll never forget that kind of selfless dedication and I though the story should be told.

This story was submitted to the People鈥檚 War site by Anastasia Travers a volunteer with WM CSV Actiondesk on behalf of Jim Coton and has been added to the site with his permission. Jim Coton fully understands the sites terms and conditions.
