My twin brother, Tony, and I were born on the 8th September, 1939, in Twickenham, Middlesex during the week the 2nd World War started.
In 1941, a bomb fell behind our house, causing huge damage.
My Mother - Maud Hall, two Brothers and three Sisters and I, were evacuated to Lostwithiel in Cornwall; Where Bob went to live with a farmer; Patricia went to a headmaster, and Mum, Pauline, my twin Tony and I went to 鈥淭he Red Brick House鈥 where evacuees were given two rooms to live in.
My twin, Tony and I started school there in 1943, and we were all made really welcome.
We returned home to Twickenham in 1944, where my Father, who was serving in the Royal Air Force as a Despatch Driver, joined us at the end of the war.
Our thanks to a wonderful, caring town - LOSTWITHIEL!
