My dad was in the Royal Warwickshire regiment.
He had to drive truckloads of Italien prisoners of war.
He was on his own on one occasion so at any time they could have overpowered him - but they were so fed up that they couldn't be bothered.
One day an officer approached my dad and told him Monty's Batman was on a weeks leave and dad was to cover for him. His job was to clean out Monty's caravan - he only actually saw monty himself once during the week !
