I'm the driver of the vehicle in this picture.

This photo and caption were submitted to the People's War site by K. Helsby of Congleton Library on behalf of John Gibson and has been added to the site with his permission. The author fully understands the site's term and conditions.

We weren't allowed to have cameras in Iraq (in case we were captured) so we had to get an Arab fellow to take this for us. I was sitting in the driver's seat, Jimmy Arrowsmith was a cockney lad -- standing with his arms crossed in front of him, and Bernard Purcell, a lad from near Canterbury, is all the way on the left.

There were eight of us left behind because of injuries/illness in the hospital, so we were made to join the Workshops and drive the ration vehicles.
