Ellen dixon was born in Canada, but moved to Malta when see was 12.On the first day, Malta was bombed, but the first raid was in the Italian island of Sicily.When see grew older,she began to work as a RAF plotter.A plotter used to use maps and plan the attacks of the planes.she said that the Radar was the secret weapon of the British.
Her cousin was a officer in the Navy, she never heard from him in a while, then one day she received a letter to say that he was in a Japanese prisoner of war camp.A couple of months passed, and she got a letter to say that he had died.
Ellen met her husband in the war .He was a wireless operator in the RAF.She said that her Husband was the best looking lad in the area, well according to her.
Malta was a very small island just under the south of Italy.It was only 9 miles wide and 17 miles long.The biggest church in Malta got bombed,but the bomb failed to explode.The whole of the rounded ceiling was destroyed.Malta was awarded the highest honour available,The George Cross.Nowadays the bomb is still on show, having failed not to explode.
In the war, they had to use ration books, this was because the supply ships coming to the docks in Malta were destroyed before the had time to come.
