I worked on a farm near Bridge-on-Wyre, aged 14. The farm was called "The Meadow" and we were expected to be up at 6:00 am. My friend was billeted nearby, also named Riley. I remember sweet rations. There were six lads on the next farm. One bus went to Handridnod Wells per week. We were evacuated from Bootle (Little Strand Road). Mother sent out our communion dresses!
