The food was depressing.
If you used your rationing up you had to live on fresh air for the rest of the week.
It was the same with clothes.
We had spam and I liked that. I never had any chocolate or bananas.
The Americans sent us tins.
The Yanks used to shout "Hello babe, do you want some chewing gum."
