I was in the RAF and Fleet Air Arm. I was an air fitter, doing periodical DIs [daily inspections]. I was in 5 Group Bomber Command [Bomber Harris'] at Grantham, which was the headquarters of Bomber Command during the war. Planes set out from there to bomb Europe.
