I am writing on behalf of my cousin who would be thrilled to know if any other family remembers the following:-
It concerns her father ( my uncle) Samuel William Cannon who was serving with the Royal Artillery during WW2 and was perhaps seconded to the Durham Light Infantry. We know he was in India in December 1942 before transfer to Burma. My cousin remembers very clearly being taken to a cinema near where they were living in Chesham, together with her mother and Sam's sisters to see a film where some of the soldiers were able to send messages home. The soldiers were chosen by lots apparently and her father was one of the lucky ones. Sam died some years ago and she would like to know if any of these films still survive. She has written to the D.L.I. who are unaware of any such films. Does anyone remember seeing their father or relative on these films?
