Mr Roughton owned the Grange in Friskney - Doris worked for Mr Roughton at the Grange.
One day Doris was leading a horse round the field and Mr Roughton had let the soldiers on to his land to practise their shooting.
While Doris was leading the horse the soldiers were firing across the fields out to sea.
Everytime a shot went off the horse would buck – in the end Doris took the horse back to the stable and went home.
