My mother ,Mary Loving was an army nurse .During 1943 she was based at St Thomas's in London.Whilst out during an air raid working with another nurse whose surname was Sweet, helping rescue casualties , they strayed into a restricted area and were challenged by a sentry who jumped out in front of them. " Halt ,who goes there" came the usual challenge. "Sweet and Loving " came the reply. And they were promptly both arrested and held for several hours ,till their army ID cards could be checked!!!Still- what else could they have said!!.
