I was working on B.S.A ammunitions making fuses for shells, then I went to British aluminium, rolling the sheets to make planes. Later, I went to Rolls Royce making jet engines, I lived where Mitchell lived in stoke on Trent. I saw Whittle when he came to see the engines being made. After the war, I worked in a bar meeting all the American soldiers and I went to the Arcade Ballroom.
I had either to work where the Bevan boys were or work in the bar which was classified as 鈥渄omestic鈥 you had to go where you were told to work.
I got to know the RAF men who had been prisoners, as they were brought home. I met my husband then who had landed on Sword beach in the D-Day landings.
