My dad's aunt had invited my mother and I to go down for a short break.
Mother took me to the beach and we were enjoying it when she saw some aeroplanes coming in over the bay. She assumed that they were allied planes. Then, as they came nearer, she saw the dreaded swastika on their wings. She knew that there was a Czech army camp nearby and ran with me in her arms toward it. Thankfully the pilots were not in the mood to strafe civilians- else we would not have survived.
I think our guardian angel was watching over us just then.
