I was born in World War I. My husband died when he was 59 in 1933. I had to go back out to work to keep the family of eight children. I worked at Sandal near Wakefield for a Mrs Webster in her caf茅. I also took in washing and anything else that would help to pay the bills.
Mum had thirteen children.
In the war if you heard that there was some butter at the Co-Op everyone would scamper up there fast.
