It was wartime . My brother and I made some catapults using car inner-tube rubber for the elastic part. When the B17's had taken off and were a few hundred feet above us, we stood at the bottom of our garden firing stones at them with our catapults. It was a great game to us and we could actually see the crew in the plane ,who would wave to us. I don't know if they were friendly waves or not but it has fond memories for me.
