RAF Scampton 1951

I was eight years old when one day I heard a herd of cows in the distance .I had never seen one except in books .I ran in doors to tell my mum .To my surprise she said the air raid warning sirens were being tested.
Later I was nearly evacuated. At the last minute my dad was sent from the Woolwich Arsenal [munitions stores}to Scotland .
I then became acquainted with real cows!
When I was sixteen and a half ,I joined the R.A.F.Apprentices 1947 .Flew in a Lincoln Bomber .Serviced the gunsights ,having a fun time motoring the gun turrets around.
In 1952 sent to France where I saw quite a few German aircraft wich now became the property of the French. Those were the Days!
