Sheila Fenn and Marjorie entertaining the troops, 1944
Sheila Fenn and Marjorie entertaining the troops, 1944.
Before I joined the ATS, when I was working, I belonged to a Concert Party. We travelled around in an old, blacked-out Ambulance to various places around Ilford and as far as Woolwich, putting on shows for the troops. My dancing partner Marjorie was working for May and Baker in the laboratories and I was with Ilford Library, then with a firm called Kidditogs in London. The daughter fo the Producer was called Hazel and was a soprano and there was a comedian and others whose names I have forgotton. The costumes were all "hand-made" using any bits of material we could find. We had enormous fun and judging by the applause, I think we were appreciated!
