During the war my mum and her family lived in Cheadle, Staffs.
Whenever there was an air raid they would all go round to a neighbours house and go down in their cellar.
One morning, after an air raid, the chap next door came out and announced what a bad one it had been - "My God, they were dropping them in three's last night!"
Everyone was quite astonished at this and pondered on it for a good while. It turned out that, to keep themselves occupied, someone had taken a dart board down in to the cellar and during the raid, my mum and her pals has all been playing darts. The dartboard was on the wall adjoining the neighbours cellar and so had quite an impact on the folks next door!
