In 1940, My Grandad (Corporal Frank Davies) was sent out to fight in Burma, there were no serious injuries for all I know, but he survived: for four years. For four years, he battled the japenese for the liberation of Burma.
In 1944, he went to serve in Austria in the Army of Occupation.
Later in the year, my Grandma Betty (now dead) got a telegram (which were usually bad news,) but it was from Frank, saying: " Have arrived in Southampton, back in 2 days, Love Frank. Betty fainted, she hadn't heard from Frank for four years.
My Grandad is still alive and kicking at the grand age of 83.
By Gareth Davies.
