"This story was submitted to the "People's War site by a voluteer from Gloucestershire on behalf of Pamela and has been added to the site with her permission. Pamela fully understands the site's terms and conditions"

During the war we lived in Edge, Gloucestershire and we had a stray bomb go off and it broke the windows. The aeroplanes were heading for Moreton Valence. Next morning, my Brother said "I can see the tail of a plane". My Father went along and it was a crashed plane and as my Father approached the occupants pointed a gun at him. He spoke to them and offered help. He returned to the house and called the Ambulance. One of the men was fiddling around and he reached to get a photograph of his daughter, which my Father put into his hand and with that the man died.
