This story was submitted to the People's War website by Plymouth Library Services on behalf of Phyllis Lewis. The author fully understands the terms and conditions of the website.

I worked in Harriss鈥檚 seed shop in Marlborough Street, Devonport. We sold seed for gardens and our motto was "I Dig for Victory".

We also sold forage and feed for cattle and farmers.

We had several stores in Plymouth. I remember the store in South Street being bombed. The men went to clear up the site.
