I lived in Wychbold during the war and I was about 4 years old. Obviously I don鈥檛 remember very much but I do remember being woken up by the drone of planes overhead. I think it was the Allies going over for the Battle of Britain. It went on and on for ages and the noise eventually made us feel sick.
My mom had a job at the Lido at Droitwich and I used to go to work with her. She was very friendly with a G.I. and I remember he used to bring me sweets.
My aunt Ada Vine used to work at Austin鈥檚 and I remember going to see her at work and watching them pack the ammunitions. They were bullets and they were stacking them in boxes. We used to live with my Nan and I remember the mangle and the outside toilet and having a bath in a tin bath.
