Being so young I do not have many lengthy memories, just fleeting things that have stayed with me all my life.
There in is no real story, just remebering the Anderson Shelter in the garden which was always wet uncomfortable and with so many of my family living with us Aunts Cousins etc not a lot of good.
The earliest memory is of the simple sight of a rifle in the bedroom when my father came home on leave.
I remember my mother deciding that the shelter was not the place to die so we were either under the stairs or under the dining room table during air raids.
I also remember being at the kitchen door and hearing a buzz bomb and watching it go past in the direction of an airfield and my mother saying if you can hear it you will not feel it.
I do know that some did come down on the estate where we lived.
Just minor memories but I was so young and I am surprised that I remember so much.
I do remember my father coming home and at a later date helping him dig up the anderson shelter.
