My friend and I left St. Marys church Sunday school and visited her grandmother in Castle Lane. The Home gaurd were practicing and had put barbed wire across the road so we couldn't get home. Later on, after the planes etc. had finished we went home to find a bag of soot had been dropped on the huge iron mangle my mother used.
