A trip to London during the war was an event. For a treat myself and boy friend Cecil, with Margaret and Frank, went on a trip to London. We went to the zoo which was a very sad place as most of the animals had gone. We then had a meal at a Lyons Corner House having saved our rations; basic but good. Then we went to 鈥淭he Windmill鈥, the theatre that never closed. We saw 鈥淛ane鈥, the so called nude. Each scene with Jane in was draped in muslin so you only got a misty view. We were told some old and young gentlemen stayed the whole twenty four hours, just in case the veil slipped.
The siren went, so as London was a target, we made our way to Liverpool Street Station. We were shunted all over the place. It took hours to get home.
