We collected frogspawn and newts and kept them in tanks placed on a windowsill at aunties along a glass-covered walkway between the shop and the house. Peggy and I also went alone to skipton on the bus to go to the swimming baths. Never once did I go to the cinemas all the time I was there. Books were always a delight to Arnold and me had a collection of 鈥淩upert the bear鈥 books which he had me to read to him, because he would only look at the pictures he was too lazy to read. There was also an organ in the house and I would figure out tunes to play from a Methodist hymn book- my two favourite were 鈥 Jesus bids us shine with a pure clear light鈥 and 鈥 little drops of water, little grains of sand鈥 鈥 Arnold accompanied me on a tambourine.
