I worked on the dock has an apprentice Caulker for the Ship Reapair Company Brigham and Cowan.
We Rebuilt an Destroyer called the Express that had been blown apart by a sea mine, It came into the dock with dead sailors still aboard it.
every part of the ship forward of the bridge no longer existed. Volenteres went aboard to extracate bodies. from what remained of the Ship.
It was then dry docked and a new keel was laid from the bridge to the bow and rebuilt When the job was finished it was renamed the Corncrake and joined the Canadian Navy.
